1. The Edge Financial Daily, an article by Joseph Chin (The Edge, April 22nd) as well as Brunei Times reported a substantial oil producing offshore area in the South China Sea, namely Block L and Block M, were no longer a part of Malaysia.

2. Malaysians and the Malaysian media did not ask how this came about. It would seem that the loss of a huge oil producing area that had apparently belonged to Malaysia is okay.

3. Block L and Block M had been claimed by Malaysia based on historical facts. Accordingly, Petronas entered into a production sharing contract with Murphy Oil to start drilling to produce oil. It is estimated that the reserves amounted to almost 1 billion barrels.

4. Abdullah Badawi negotiated with the Sultan to get back Limbang in Sarawak. In return he agreed to surrender the two blocks to Brunei. No Petronas representatives were present, only foreign office staff and the foreign affairs adviser to the PM.

5. As we all know Abdullah triumphantly announced that he had settled the Limbang claim with Brunei (here). No mention was made of the two blocks.

6. Brunei disclaimed (here) that they had agreed to give up Limbang. The foreign office and Abdullah did not rebut Brunei's statement.

7. Now it is made clear that the two blocks are no longer a part of Malaysia.

8. Abdullah has caused Malaysia to lose at least US100 billion dollars (about RM320 billion) of Malaysia's oil in this agreement.

Most experts agree that the Iphone sets a new benchmark to the new generation mobile phone however ipad looks like the contender as one of the worst tech product in 2010. That thing looks like crap. Unless you are apple fanboy, there is no reason to purchase it. Kalau kan mau beli jua wait until 2nd generation ipad at least.

Why I thinks the Ipad will sucks

1. No multitasking - no music and internet at the same time. Why not use the dual processor?
2. No flash and java
3. No USB- as far as I know u need to buy another USB adapter. Lol what a ripoff

University Graduates

Normally the job vacancy advertised in Pelita Brunei are for the "gaji-bulan" positions meaning that you will get paid holidays, and an employment contract which requires you to work at a minimum period of time and usually incentives will be provided with the job.

The process of applying is usually by obtaining the SPA1 or SPA2 application form. You can get this for free from the Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam in Brunei-Muara district or the respective District Offices in other districts besides Brunei-Muara. You will have to follow with the application deadlines and attached your education qualifications to date. You will then submit this back to the Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam from this all your personal information and qualifications will be input as data in their computer database. Applicants which satisfy the minimum education qualifications will automatically be selected from non-qualified ones from the computer and to be sent to other Ministries that have posted the vacancy advertisement.

After which, applicants are often asked to call in to undertake an entrance examination, normally for competitive job positions. Those with high marks will then be called for Interview. Normally at this stage, about 8-18 interviewees will be called for one position advertised.

The process for "gaji-hari" positions is different than "gaji-bulan", with these you will not get paid holidays with the exception of public holidays, some incentives may not be provided but I believe allowances such as transport allowance and "sara-hidup" allowance will be included with the job. Normally seen as the one where the job security is less than "gaji-bulan" but nonetheless cases of people being fired are uncommon. This "gaji-hari" positions are ideal for applicants who want the ease of quitting the job at any time since the work contract is not as extensive as the "gaji-bulan".

Normally, this positions are not well advertised. One has to have insider information or contacts or perhaps to personally call in and speak with the departments in order to determine whether there are vacancies within the department. The proper way to apply is by writing a letter and posting it to the relevant Directors of the department, make sure to attached your highest education qualification in the letter. Usually you would not be able to hear a response from them, but you could always call in or telephone to enquire about your application status. This process can be complicated as the departments may need to conduct a meeting with the board of directors & officers. Most importantly the issue would be if the department have the budget to afford to employ you.

One way to find the correct person for the letter to be addressed to is by checking out the phone directory, there you will find extensive departments and their phone numbers. The next thing you would do is perhaps to call and get their addresses, you could ask if they are hiring also. Personally with the ease of the internet, I would just go to Government, Ministries websites and obtain the relevant information.

Jemaah-jemaah haji memakai pakaian ihram terpaksa menggunakan payung,sebahagiannya lagi menggunakan topeng muka semasa mengelilingi Kaabah di Mekah.

Namun, berikutan hujan lebat itu, ramai jemaah membuat keputusan untuk tinggal di dalam bangunan penginapan seperti di hotel.

Terdapat juga sebahagian jemaah yang terperangkap dalam kesesakan jalan raya semasa menuju ke Mekah.

Cuaca hujan itu dianggap jarang berlaku pada permulaan musim haji.

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Zakat thunderbolt has hit Brunei's financial houses fast and furious as the managers seek cover from the result of the sudden windfall.

Just more than 4,000 ' needy' Bruneians have benefited from a financial scheme the country's benevolent ruler bestowed to alleviate the burden of his less fortunate subjects under a religious dictum.

Many have ended up receiving as much as $30,000 from the Islamic charity the ruler has approved. But that money would not be paid all at once. It would be doled out in smaller sums of not more than $1,000 a month.

Some families have received nearly $100,000 depending on the number of its members.

Many have spent the money on food and other necessities. But others have not. That is how the sultanate's bankers and other financial institutions have come under intense pressure.

A large number of recipients armed with the Zakat monthly payment certificates have besieged the country's lending institutions requesting finance to buy new cars and other luxuries, local bankers told the Weekend.

"We are rather amazed," a finance manager said yesterday. "Buying an expensive car seems to be many recipients' topmost priority. Some managers have decided not to approve the loans for car hire purchase using the Zakat monthly certificate. The money, after all, was not meant for that," he added.

But a resident in Rimba said, "My neighbour lives in a large new house. She received a lot of money under Zakat. I saw her driving a brand new Mercedes sports this morning. I must say that was rather quick. I do not know how she got into the scheme, in the first place."

A Malaysian living in Brunei remarked, "Actually, Bruneians are not that poor. They are much better off compared to their neighbours. If you really want to see poverty' you just have to cross over the border to Limbang or even Sabah."

Another visitor said, "We are really impressed by the number of new cars around. Every house seems to have at least three cars parked in front."

This is not the first time the sultanate's caring ruler had tried to uplift his subjects by giving outright financial help.

A village headman recalls that once before the government bought outboard engines for people living on the river.

Some months later there were no engines to be seen. The owners had sold them off cheap to use the cash for some flimsy purpose. Same thing happened to the baking implements. They too were sold off for a song by the villagers.

To prevent a repitition Zakat payments have now been arranged monthly fearing abuse by the recipients. The attempt to pawn these certificates to buy luxury items like cars is a means to get around the safeguards.

However, some Kampong Ketuas have urged the government to use the money to encourage the beneficiaries to do business and thus create opportunities.

"But that would need strict supervision and many civil servants and kampong heads are not willing to invest their time in it. I know that is hard work. We must provide opportunities together with the cash," an enlightened village head said.

8.52 (QS. Al Anfaal: 52): “(Keadaan mereka) serupa dengan keadaan Firaun dan pengikut-pengikutnya serta orang-orang sebelumnya. Mereka mengingkari ayat-ayat Allah, maka Allah menyiksa mereka disebabkan disebabkan dosa-dosanya. Sesungguhnya Allah Maha Kuat lagi Amat Keras siksaan-Nya.”

Tiga ayat Allah Swt di atas, yang ditunjukkan tepat dalam waktu kejadian tiga gempa di Sumatera, berbicara mengenai azab Allah berupa kehancuran dan kematian, dan kaitannya dengan hidup bermewah-mewah dan kedurhakaan, dan juga dengan keadaan Firaun dan pengikut-pengikutnya.

Alhamdullilah dan syukur selepas Kebawah Duli mengagihkan zakat kepada orang-orang fakir di Brunei. Hopefully cita2 negara tani untuk free from poverty akan tercapai.

Fakta mengenai zakat di Brunei

1. Jumlah penerima dari asnaf fakir miskin ialah 3,894 dan jumlah penerima asnaf algharimin ialah 190 orang. Semuanya berjumlah 4,084 orang.

2. Penerima asnaf fakir miskin adalah dari kalangan yg sedia tersenarai di MUIB sebagai asnaf zakat yg telah diluluskan sehingga 31 Julai 2009. Mereka adalah penerima bantuan bulanan dan penerima agihan zakat menjelang Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.

3. Penerima asnaf algharimin adalah penanggung2 hutang perumahan yg tertunggak kpd Jabatan Kemajuan Perumahan, Kementerian Pembangunan dan kepada Yayasan SHHB.

4. Jumlah wang zakat yg diagihkan kpd mereka semua ialah sekitar $90 juta.

5. Penerima bantuan bulanan (berupa brg makanan asasi, kewangan perbelanjaan harian, persekolahan anak2 dan bantuan bayaran rumah sewa) mendapat agihan sebanyak $20,000 bagi setiap ketua keluarga dan $10,000 bagi setiap tanggungan yg disokong.

6. Penerima agihan menjelang Hari Raya Aidil Fitri mendapat sebanyak $3,000 bagi setiap ketua keluarga dan sebanyak $2,000 bagi setiap tanggungan yg disokong.

7. Penerima asnaf algharimin masing2 mendapat agihan bagi melunaskan hutang perumahan mereka yg tertunggak sehingga 31 Januari 2009. Semuanya berjumlah $2.32 juta dibayar terus kepada Jabatan Kemajuan Perumahan, Kementerian Pembangunan dan Yayasan SHHB.

8. Agihan asnaf fakir miskin akan dimasukkan ke dalam akaun masing2. Mereka hanya boleh mengeluarkan SETIAP SEBULAN TIDAK MELEBIHI 1/12, atau 1/36, atau 1/48 atau 1/60 (tertakluk kpd kategori masing2). Dgn itu bererti mereka TELAH TERKELUAR drpd senarai penerima bantuan wang zakat MUIB untuk selama di antara 12 bulan sampai 60 bulan.

9. Maka seramai 4,084 keluarga yg tergolong selama ini sebagai fakir miskin adalah TERKELUAR DENGAN SERTA MERTA daripada kemiskinan.

10. Masih terdapat sejumlah baki yg juga akan diagihkan sedikit masa lagi kpd pemohon2 yg layak dan berhak yg tersenarai yg belum diluluskan selepas 31 Julai 2009. Bilangan mereka dan kadar yg akan mereka terima akan diketahui setelah selesai penelitian dibuat, sesuai dgn jumlah baki wang zakat yg ada.

11. Selain itu, sejumlah $67 juta telah diperuntukkan bg membiayai komitmen2 yg lain yg telah diputuskan oleh Mesyuarat MUIB, termasuk antaranya ialah $35 juta untuk membina perumahan fakir miskin dan sebanyak $3.6 juta bagi Program Pengupayaan Fakir Miskin untuk tempoh 5 tahun.

12. Semenjak 1969, kutipan zakat telah tidak habis diagihkan kpd enam asnaf yg ada di negara ini. Agihan yg TERBANYAK ialah kpd asnaf fakir miskin. Manakala agihan kpd asnaf2 lain iaitu muallaf, amil, ibnu sabil dan algharimin adalah KURANG kerana bilangan mereka itu tidak ramai.

13. Bahagian asnaf fakir miskin setiap tahun lazimnya HABIS diagihkan, bahkan TIDAK MENCUKUPI, yg mana untuk mencukupkannya itu DIAMBIL dari Bahagian ASNAF YG LAIN yg tidak wujud pada masa zakat itu dikumpul dan dibahagikan.

14. Baki yg terkumpul itu disimpan di Perbendaharaan Negara sehingga 1992. Dlm tahun itu, sebahagian baki itu telah disimpan di IBB dan sebahagian lagi di TAIB. Simpanan di kedua2 institusi kewangan itu sejak 1993 hingga 2008 telah menghasilkan dividen setiap tahun sehingga berjumlah lebih $98 juta. Jumlah tersebut menjadi sebahagian drpd Kumpulan Wang Zakat yg berbaki itu.

15. MUIB akan terus menerimna dan mengumpulkan zakat yg dikeluarkan oleh org2 dan pihak2 yg membayar zakat. Kumpulan zakat yg baru itu akan diagihkan kpd asnaf2nya sesuai dgn skim2 pengagihan yg akan ditimbangkan dari semasa ke semasa.

16. Adapun penerima2 dokumen agihan baki wang zakat dan penerima2 selebihnya YANG AKAN DITENTUKAN itu TIDAK LAGI AKAN TERSENARAI dalam asnaf zakat di MUIB UNTUK TEMPOH ANTARA 1 TAHUN hingga 5 TAHUN.

17. Bilangan keluarga Fakir Miskin sehingga 31 Julai 2009 :

a. Brunei Muara : 2,313 orang
b. Tutong : 573 orang
c. Belait : 749 orang
d. Temburong : 259 orang

The second generation of Wi-Fi security systems has now been broken as badly as its notoriously insecure predecessor: Japanese researchers say they can crack WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access), the successor to the old-school WEP, inside of a minute's time spent eavesdropping on a wireless network.

Details on the mechanics of the attack are set to be announced next month at a computer conference, but it's tentatively described as taking to "a new level" the previous method by which WPA had been roughly compromised, adapting previously theoretical holes in the WPA system and turning them into practical attack techniques.

The previous method of attacking WPA devices took up to 15 minutes to be successful, and didn't always work. The new method is said to work on far more devices and, obviously, much more quickly. However, as with the old attack, the new one only works on WPA devices that use the TKIP (Temporal Key Integrity Protocol) algorithm, which is a setting in your router and device setup.

WPA devices that use the newer AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) algorithm, plus devices that use WPA2 -- the third generation of wireless security standards -- are still safe for now.

However, this does mean that it won't be long before this attack technique trickles out into software that malicious hackers can use to invade WPA networks. With access to your wireless network, a hacker can potentially eavesdrop on any traffic sent, access shared folders on computers attached to the network, and of course send and receive data (like illegal file sharing or even child pornography) which could then be blamed on you.

To protect yourself, upgrade the security settings on your devices to WPA2 if they all support the standard. Alternately, you can upgrade any WPA device from TKIP security to AES. Check in your router administration console and on your computer for and where how to do this.

Doa Malaikat Jibril menjelang Ramadhan- Palsu

Sempena bulan Ramadhan, received 3 emails about 'doa Malaikat Jibril menjelang Ramadhan'. Percaya atau inda, artikel itu sebenarnya palsu dan langsung inda ada dalam Al-Quran atau Hadith Sahih.

Do'a malaikat Jibril menjelang Ramadhan "Ya Allah tolong abaikan puasa ummat Muhammad, apabila sebelum memasuki bulan Ramadhan dia tidak melakukan hal-hal yang berikut:

* Tidak memohon maaf terlebih dahulu kepada kedua orang tuanya (jika masih ada);

* Tidak berma'afan terlebih dahulu antara suami isteri;

* Tidak bermaafan terlebih dahulu dengan orang-orang sekitarnya.

Maka Rasulullah pun mengatakan Amin sebanyak 3 kali.

Ada yang memberitau inda salah mengambil pedoman dari hadis yang palsu asalkan tidak melanggar hukum agama. Mungkin niat penulis itu sangat baik supaya Manusia memohon maaf semasa sendiri tetapi Nabi Muhammad pernah bersabda :

“Sesungguhnya berdusta ke atasku (menggunakan namaku) bukanlah seperti berdusta ke atas orang lain (menggunakan nama orang lain). Sesiapa yang berdusta ke atasku dengan sengaja, maka siaplah tempat duduknya dalam neraka” (Bukhari, Muslim).

Tapi ada hadis yang kan hampir serupa walaupun kandungannya nda sama. Riwayat dari Imam Al-Bukhari.

Nabi Shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam naik ke atas mimbar kemudian berkata, “Amin, amin, amin”.
Para sahabat bertanya.”Kenapa engkau berkata amin, amin, amin, wahai Rasulullah?” Nabi Shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam bersabda:

“Telah datang malaikat Jibril dan ia berkata : ‘Celaka seseorang yang masuk bulan Ramadhan tetapi keluar dari bulan Ramadhan tidak diampuni dosanya oleh Allah dan katakanlah amin!’, maka aku berkata : ‘Amin’.

Kemudian Jibril berkata lagi. ‘Celaka seseorang yang mendapatkan kedua orang tuanya atau salah seorang dari keduanya masih hidup tetapi itu tidak memasukkan dia ke syurga dan katakanlah amin!’ maka kukatakan, ‘Amin’ “.

Kemudian Jibril berkata lagi.’Hai Muhammad celaka seseorang yang jika disebut nama engkau namun dia tidak bershalawat kepadamu dan katakanlah amin!’ maka ku katakan, ‘Amin’.” (Imam al-Bukhari)

PARIS: Masyarakat Islam di Perancis menghadapi cabaran hebat tahun ini kerana perlu berpuasa hampir 16 jam setiap hari pada Ramadan kali ini kerana waktu siang lebih panjang.

Sepanjang Ramadan, penduduk Islam mula menahan diri daripada makan dan minum mulai terbit fajar hingga terbenam matahari yang jatuh antara jam 5.15 pagi (waktu tempatan) hingga 9 malam di Paris.

Suhu musim panas juga dijangka menjadikan bulan puasa tahun ini lebih sukar kepada mereka kerana setiap tahun tarikh menyambut Ramadan adalah berbeza.

Hampir 70 peratus daripada anggaran lima juta penduduk Islam, tinggal di Paris dan meraikan Ramadan, menurut kajian pendapat yang disiarkan minggu lalu.

Sempena sambutan bulan mulia ini, kebanyakan masjid mengundang imam daripada negara lain yang juga mempunyai komuniti Perancis termasuk Maghribi, Turki dan Algeria.

Dalam perkembangan lain, Ramadan sejak beberapa tahun lalu menjadi acara penting di Perancis untuk jualan barang halal yang disifatkan mempunyai pasaran baik.

Makanan halal masih lagi kecil di Perancis berdasarkan anggaran lima juta penduduk Islam.

Bagaimanapun, satu kajian terbaru oleh agensi Solis yang khusus dalam pasaran etnik, pasaran halal bernilai hampir 4 bilion euro (RM18 bilion) pada 2009 dan pertumbuhan tahunannya dianggarkan 15 peratus, yang disifatkan tinggi Perancis menghadapi krisis kewangan pada masa ini.

Kajian juga menunjukkan, lebih 93 peratus penduduk Afrika Utara dan 55 peratus dari negara Sahara Afrika membeli barang halal.

"Sejak beberapa tahun lalu, bekalan bagi daging halal dan barang runcit lain adalah terhad dalam pasaran tradisi saja," kata Pengarah Agensi Solis, Abbas Bendali.

Pada 14 Julai lalu Kebawah Duli telah bertitah tentang Skim Persaraan caruman tambahan. Apa yang di ketahui tentang skim ini ialah mengenai skim persaraan tambahan kepada TAP. Selepas umur persaraan 60 tahun, pekerja akan menerima pencen minimum sebanyak $150 bergantung kepada caruman pekerja (3.5% pekerja dan 3.5% majikan). Mungkin ada yang salah anggap sebagai pencen. Mungkin fungsinya kan hampir sama tetapi caruman dari gaji bulanan tetap dilaksanakan. Atu saja info yang ku tau :)

1. Lebihan Zakat. Nada orang miskin lagi di Brunei kah?
2. Krisis Makanan . 3.12% ayat keramat. Siapa yang membentangkan isu ini.
3. Performance Pekerja government. Government civil macam robot
4. H1N1. Officer yang memberitau supaya jangan keluar negeri tetapi diri sendiri yang keluar negeri.
5. Pelajaran Ugama cuma jadi pelajaran pilihan. Masalahnya penuntut lagi suka pilih muzik atau drama dari Pelajaran Ugama. Nda pernah ada negara luar yang utamakan Muzik dalam pelajaran.
6. Overspending untuk hari keputeraan. Hari keputeraan Sultan sepatutnya bukan rakyat yang menanggung. Inda perlu meminta derma daripada swasta.
7. Penghantaran officer kursus atau menghadiri seminar keluar negeri. Officer yang ranking tinggi ramai yang ikut tetapi officer ranking inda tinggi, cuma seorang saja yang kesana. Sepatutnya ranking yang rendah ani tah patut dibawa dangan lagi.
8. Mana Doa untuk mengelakkan bencana? Qunut Nazillah macam sekadar saja cuma untuk Sembahyang Jumaat sedangkan boleh dilakukan bila2 masa saja. Doa tanpa Usaha pun nda jua guna.

Alhamdullilah semoga titah dari raja kesayangan kitani dapat diambil ikhtibar demi kemajuan negara kitani walaupun perkara ani patut diberitau awal2 lagi. Bekerja biar ikhlas demi agama, bangsa dan negara.

The bizarre claim surfaced as Magdalena Kwiatkowska demanded compensation after her 13-year-old daughter came back from the family holiday expecting a baby.
